The Journey Continues!

I told you last time that I don’t write blogposts often! Now a year has passed since my last post Celebrating 5-Years of Wherapy where I chronicled the developments during the first five years of my practice, so I thought it would be fitting to give you an update on what’s going on both as it pertains to Wherapy and my private life.

First things first, I got engaged to my girlfriend of five years (and the mother of my child) during a trip to Hong Kong. Those of you who are familiar with my backstory will know that I grew up in Hong Kong and that my experience of that upbringing was what lead me to start an online therapy practice aimed at helping Adult Third Culture Kids dealing with mental health issues.

(Me thirty minutes before popping the question… nervous as hell!)

It was important to me that my girlfriend got to experience the wonderful city that I grew up in before I popped the question and for various reasons our trip there got delayed. To Linn: “I’m sorry that it took so long”.

In other news – there’s been a positive development with the five-year-plan that I mentioned in my last blogpost. I have been accepted into my nearby university and have currently completed the first term of my final psychotherapy degree. In Sweden, we have to do two separate degrees in additional to a vocational degree and work experience so it’s been a long journey and now I am entering the home stretch. Only 2-and-a-half more years!

(As of now, I am a licensed mental healthcare counsellor and psychotherapist. When I am done, I will have my licensure as a psychotherapist as well.)

This means that I am currently spending my “working hours” on three different areas; my university studies, Wherapy and a new job as a therapist at a general practitioner’s office.

In regards to Wherapy, I am still working from my home office (no office in town as of yet) but Wherapy is growing quicker than I have expected and soon I hope to spend even more time working with it. As part of a professionalisation process, I have spent a lot of time thinking about the values that I want my company to adhere to. Click here if you’re interested in reading them. When I have time to spare, I will also be focusing on developing Wherapy+ – my online library of self-help courses. This has been a passion project of mine which I haven’t been able focus too much on lately.

Personally and professionally I am looking forward to what the coming years bring and will be sure to keep you updated. I live my professional life in adherence to three words; patience, persistence, perseverance. In my personal life, I simply try to be present as much as possible.
